feeling next to normal

Listening to the cast recording of Next to Normal that came out this week. It's fierce. Everyone on it sounds fantastic, and I'm really loving this whole score. Can't wait to see the show again soon hopefully.

Anyway, I'm exhausted tonight and so glad that I've got a weekend starting tomorrow. I've been stage managing a thesis (which is really good, btw!), and while I don't have to do a ton for it, I'm just downright tired. That's all I can really say on that, but I hope all of the thesis presentations I've seen so far move on and have lives after GMTWP. I'm getting very excited to write my thesis, whatever it might be.

I have to start looking into sponsorships for Miss New York USA, and I have to mail in my paperwork ASAP. I'm looking forward to it, because I really feel like I can place well at this. I know what I'm doing, and I have fun at pageants. Plus I'm just excited to meet new girls at the competition and to have a fancy weekend in a fancy hotel wearing fancy dresses. A girl needs that from time to time, right? Right. If nothing else it'll be an excuse to start exercising again. I haven't really done that since January when I decided that the world sucks and trying is overrated. Glad that I'm over that.

Before that though, I must must must write my one act musical. I got an idea for it tonight that gets me more interested in the piece, so hopefully I can start churning out more material now. I think I know what story to tell to still cover all the bases and themes that we want to cover. We'll see how it turns out.

Also writing material for Meridian 13 News, of course. I just wrote a Madame Enzo, and I like it. I have to write something for Jacques by tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure what to write. It only needs to be about thirty or forty seconds, but I don't have much of a clue at the moment. I'm going to sleep on it and write it in the morning with a fresh brain.

ooh! I've been working all semester on a piece based on Where the Sidewalk Ends. It's a dance piece choreographed by people in the dance department, the costumes and sets are by other NYU grad students, and the score is by Felice Kuan and myself (though I didn't do nearly as much as the amazing Felice). But the piece is performed for free starting April 23rd and ending April 25th. I'll be there watching/making music, so if anyone is interested in performance details, they should get in touch with me, and I'll let them know where to go to see it.

Okay. Rehash. Looking forward to Miss New York USA, have to write my one act musical, loving the podcast group, have a performance coming up, and need sleep.

xo,
